Brooke Lochland: "I have trained the hardest ever"

Several wins and strong racing. The Australian Brooke Lochland is doing great this year, significantly improving week by week. “I have trained the hardest ever.” A short interview.

Tell us about your victories this season!
I got the win in the World on Wheels marathons in ‘t Veld and Utrecht and won a track race in Staphorst, all races in Holland. I had several podium spots too. I have been a worker for some races and my team mates have worked for me, so to me the results are team results and I’m really happy about the way we work together.

How do you explain your good results?
I didn’t expect to be this good, but I have trained the hardest I ever have this year. I’m loving it and the training group I have in the Netherlands, with athletes from the Dutch national team and Desly Hill, is so positive and motivated to beat the World. I feel very strong this year and the CadoMotus girls are working great in every race and the other teams are getting more and more scared of us which is exciting.

What did you improve most this season?
My endurance is much better this season. I changed my training program and I’m doing a lot more fitness and I am feeling much stronger. I can go on breakaways, come back and still feel very good. And when you have a training group who all want to win, everybody is training really hard to beat each other. So I’m improving all the time.

What about the rest of the season. What is the goal?
Winning more marathons in Holland of course, but also the World Championships. I’m a first year senior now and I can race together with Angeline Thomas, which is exciting. I had to race by myself only at World the last few years. I hope we can get some nice results together.
