Double CadoMotus victory in Hoogeveen
Bart Swings and Brooke Lochland both won the World on Wheels event, held last night in Hoogeveen. Lochland finished solo, Swings outsprinted former national champion Arjan Smit.
Hot weather in the Netherlands, during the 9th stage of the World on Wheels series. Soon in the mens race, 8 men escaped from the pack, with Ferre Spruyt presented. Bart and Maarten Swings then crossed the gap together with Crispijn Ariëns, who took back the lead in the overall ranking. DJ Nation and Shane Dobbin were waiting and controlling the pack.
The breakaway would be out of sight soon with Bart Swings winning the sprint. "It was close, I didn't expect Arjan Smit to be this fast. It was a hard race, with many corners."
Brooke Lochland took another victory in a succesfull season so far. A solo one. "I was kind of surprised to be alone. It was not really an attack and I didn't know how far the peloton was behind", Lochland said. She dropped Jannitta Spigt, who still managed to keep in front of the pack to place second.
Tomorrow the peloton heads to Staphorst, to race the 10th stage of the World on Wheels series.
