Ferre Spruyt at the World Games: "Impressive ceremony"
Yesterday the World Games had its opening ceremony in Kaohsiung, Taiwan. Ferre Spuyt was there. "This was a moment I will not forget."
Today the racing got started, with Ferre Spruyt (Belgium) and DJ Nation (New Zealand) from the CadoMotus World Team and Elma de Vries (Netherlands) and Bianca Roosenboom (Netherlands) of the CadoMotus Ladies Team.
"Yesterday I visited the opening ceremony with the Belgian delegation. It was a feeling I wish that everybody could experience. We walked into the stadium with 45,000 specatators, 4,000 volunteers and 2,000 athletes. It was a moment I will never forget", says Ferre Spuyt.
In the days before the championships, Spuyt and his team mates got used to the track. "It is very difficult here to race. The track is a little bumpy. Also, they forecast a typhoon here, so we are facing some bad weather already."
Ferre will skate all distances over the 300m time trial, the event won by Wei Lin "Silk" Lo in the mens, and Chiau Jen Hsu in the ladies. Both are from China Taipei, Taiwan. Bianca Roosenboom placed 9th in the ladies.
