The wet and windy ladies race was decided in a sprint, in which Lochland (CadoMotus/BOB) was the fastest, followed by Anniek ter Haar and Hilde Goovaerts (CadoMotus World), who is returning in the peloton after she gave birth to son Gust.

"I like it a lot to back in the peloton", Hilde says. "My shape changes every week, but I'm getting better and better again."

In the mens race soon a group of 9 skaters escaped and lapped the peloton on a 1,3k lap. A hard wind, but dry conditions, which surprised Bart Swings, who decided to skate on Storm Surge wheels.

Gary Hekman eventually was the strongest in the sprint, closely followed by Swings and Ferre Spruyt. Maarten Swings won the sprint of the pack.

"Bart and Ferre are concentrating on the World Championships", says their coach Jelle Spruyt. "The race in Sneek was a good opportunity for some fast and hard racing. It is 3 weeks until the championships start, 2 weeks of hard training to go."
