World Championships approaching
The CIC World Championships inline speed skating start this Friday. More than 40 countries are represented in the city of Haining, China.
The city of Haining is the host of this years World Championships, with an impressive indoor facility for the track races. Dutch sprint champion Bianca Roosenboom is looking forward to skate in the arena, which holds over 2,000 spectators.
"Racing in China is always something special, because the culture is so completely different from what I'm used to in Europe."
Roosenboom crashed hard at the World Games in Taiwan this summer and therefore slightly dissapointed at the European Championships.
"I had to race with pain all the time. Now I'm fit, ready to take revanche. The sprint distances are about hundreds of seconds. The top skaters are all very close. Anything can happen."
Besides Bianca Roosenboom, CadoMotus athletes from all over the World compete in China. Michael Byrne, Angeline Thomas and Brooke Lochland from Australia for example, William Bowen from the USA, DJ Nation from New Zealand, Bart Swings and Ferre Spruyt from Belgium and Mariska Huisman and Manon Kamminga from the Netherlands.
